The Abomination of Domination
2024-12-11
Has he gone and joined the "born-again crowd"?
Well, I guess that to answer that question we would have to define "born-again crowd".
But then the nit-picking would begin as the various nuances of the expression would need to be picked over, discussed, theological books consulted and if found wanting, rewritten, all of which would likely generate far more acres of controversy that may or may not be related to the original question.
It could become a costly and ultimately pointless never-ending exercise.
But what is the alternative?
Indeed,Is there an alternative?

The Law of Three
2024-11-29
Another offering from someone who would advise us on the rules of law as practised in the courts of our land.
What to do?
First, know your enemy...
Secondly, retain the initiative...
Thirdly, know your legal history...
Fourthly, decide if taking on the legal leviathan on its own terms is really for you.
Make of this what you will.

Opium War Reversed?
2024-11-29
Nick Hubble notes the opioid smuggling into the USA (not to mention Europe & UK).
Trump's proposed import tariffs are being leveraged by the need to stop this trade, the precursors to fentanyl being reportedly sourced from Chinese factories.
The Chinese were on the receiving end of the original opium wars, prosecuted by the British, and others in their interests of trading Chinese tea silk etc not for the silver that the Chinese demanded, but for the opium grown by the British in India.

Fighting AI with AI - the Future?
2024-11-25
Chemtrails - are they untouchable?
Clif High thinks not, and is refining a lawsuit to test the principle.
I have posited previously that laws and statutes are simply a form of artificial intelligence that seeks to define the rules within which we must operate for best outcomes, and to enforce them through the courts (albeit a long and tedious process).
Latest technology has now automated the AI process using computer algorithms capable of presenting their results in human-accessible form within an acceptable time-frame and at comparatively modest cost.
Clif's approach is to pit the latter against the former - imagine the effect of thousands of likewise emboldened citizens all filing lawsuits to redress wrongs that are currently too difficult and/or ruinously expensive to address by conventional means!

Scott Ritter Reviews the State of Play following the ICC Arrest Warrants
2024-11-23
This is a very wide-ranging review, covering the attitude of the USA, the State of Israel, his view of the objectives of the Israeli government, and much else besides. A full update.
As always his views are engaging, and based on his view of reality - like it or not.

Netanyahu in the ICC's Legal Cross-Hairs
2024-11-21
The Telegraph reports that the ICC has (after some delay it must be noted) issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant.
"The warrants are 'for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024' "
"also issued an arrest warrant for Hamas’s military chief Mohammed Deif, who is seen as the mastermind of the Oct 7 attacks. Israel claimed to have killed him earlier this year"
"The ICC’s decision turns Mr Netanyahu and the others into internationally wanted suspects"
All countries who recognise the ICC are now formally obliged to arrest the suspects and turn them over for legal proceedings to be initiated as appropriate.
The USA does not recognise the ICC and could in theory ignore these warrants, although they could also act as impartial

Why Matt Gaetz?
2024-11-17
We have featured the work of Scott Ritter on these pages because (in my opinion, which matters only on this site!) he is one of the most experienced military / geopolitical commentators that our world has been blessed with.
So his opinion piece on Trump's nomination of Matt Gaetz to the post of Attorney General (not well received by many) matters to me.
It may well matter to all of us in due course as the implications become evident.

C of E in the Cross-Hairs
2024-11-13
The Church of England, originally instituted by Henry VIII when he fell out with the Pope over an inability to sire heirs with his various wives (not to mention the lure of confiscation of vast wealth from the religious institutions of the day), is now threatened with disestablishment, ie: the dissolution of the links between Church and State.
Do 500 years of tradition count for nothing?
Is the established Church not an anachronism in our modern age of anything goes, especially in view of the current state of the C of E?
Has the link not served us well in the past, but will it not inevitably become an impediment to our progress in the future?
I am of the view that this is de facto a constitutional change, and must have the explicit approval of the people before it can be instituted - a private members' bill is not an appropriate vehicle for such drastic change. Our monarch is sworn in at a religious ceremony

What Relationship Do We Want Between our Citizens and our State?
2024-10-18
" the British public has not even begun to understand the seriousness of what is happening in our country... many people will not care what happens until it's too late... a radical and lasting transformation in the relationship between the State and its citizens in Britain in the coming years - and with it will come an equally fundamental change in our relations with each other, change characterised by distrust, resentment, and mutual hostility " - former Supreme Court Justice Lord Sumption - 2020
