If you have been following this site for a little while you may have noticed that we don't confine ourselves to any particular theme or subject-matter - our purpose (however well or badly achieved) is simply to challenge our readers to 'think outside the box".

Basically I roam wherever my fancy takes me, or wherever the tram-lines of mainstream media need to be challenged. I try not to present conclusions - reaching conclusions, possibly even just recognising possible conclusions, is your task.

Conjuring with concepts is a favoured ploy - can we align outwardly different concepts alongside each other to identify previously unrecognised linkage? 

With what new insights might we terrify ourselves?!

Perhaps unexpectedly, AI can be a engine which does precisely that. But can AI, that robustly logical machine, really conjure unexpected insights from its 100% logical workings?

A Speech for Our Time?

Apparently the world is becoming less susceptible to the narratives of fear that once kept us all docile and obedient. So we need an Event X mega-event that will send us all scuttling back into our box.

Personally I was looking forward to the "fake alien invasion" that we were promised, but it seems that other plans may be afoot - we will just have to wait and see (although the flooding in Texas that cost so many lives in recent days may have set the tone).

Who?

Zhong Zhi (pronounced 'jong je'), a Chinese financial giant "with assets exceeding Evergrande by 1.14 trillion yuan" has collapsed, leaving their many private investors without the income they were expecting from their investments.

It being China, Zhong Zhi will inevitably have close ties to the government, raising serious questions about how it was regulated and how the collapse was permitted to happen.

"How did I go from buying a financial product to becoming a participant in illegal fundraising?"

Are the Chinese now moving on from "search for the guilty" to "punishment of the innocent", before wrapping it up with "praise and honour for the non-participants"?

Meanwhile many thousands of investors have lost their dosh.

Well, that's more or less it.

The good old US of A has too many theatres of military operation to support, given the global geopolitical situation. It can't build and supply the necessary military ordnance for its military to prevail beyond a very short period, given that it has too many proxies to support and a Chinese situation looming over Taiwan.

Russia on the other hand has not neglected its supply chains, and China likely isn't over-extended, given that it doesn't have any conflicts in progress. 

"The Russians have rethought the whole approach..."

Likewise Iran seems over many years to have amassed sufficient supplies of technologically superior weapons ready for a long war with Israel, should that be required.

So is the USA drawing in its horns of sheer necessity? And if so, how does that affect the prospects for global peace?

Of course, wearables are to help keep us safe.

These will allow us to monitor and obsess about our blood pressure, heart rate, breaths per minute, steps taken and so on - all the stuff that we should be taking for granted whilst we get on with life; but of course we shouldn't be doing that at all, we should be moping around desperately trying to keep all those vital medical indicators within the prescribed bounds.

So which nut-job is trying it on this time?
