Of course this is simply a ridiculous conspiracy theory on steroids, but since "nobody knows" who Mr Satoshi (Bitcoin inventor) actually is or was, it does rather leave open the possibility that mining Bitcoin as an algorithm actually being run may just possibly perform a great deal more in practice than simply "mining Bitcoin".

Who's to know?

Therefore, tempting people to run their global AI algorithms for them with the bait of amassing vast wealth in a new kind of currency - a crypto currency - that would be outside the traditional systems of banking and government control - might be exactly what was needed by those-who-would rule-the-world to get their AI control system up and running - for free.

And if, like some, you follow the other ridiculous conspiracy theory sites on the internet that have been postulating for some time that come the revolution, the Three Gorges Dam will be destroyed (why?) (along with the vast "Bitcoin mining" operations allegedly going on beneath it ... and along with various other places of import around the world), one can begin to see that ... well, it's all just so obviously a ridiculous conspiracy theory without any foundation in reality whatsoever.

Isn't it?

A mainstream UK politician in the running for party leader:

Oh my! How long have we waited for this statement of the obvious?

To be frank, it's never been clear who would be sent to jail when inevitably the legal targets are not met, so the whole business of legally enforceable  targets always was a theatrical pantomime - but then parliament has been a pantomime for a long time now, and especially since the infamous Brexit referendum.

Welcome this straw of good sense whilst it lasts.

As some of my readers will know, Martin Geddes is in America, this time in Tennessee at an election meeting.

His reflections could well be similarly applicable in the UK, and I find it striking how in both countries, politics is in effect a weapon to promote division rather than a force for reconciliation cooperation and healing.
