Graham Moore of the English Constitution Party discusses the state of English politics in the wake of the Rupert Lowe phenomenon.

Whether we agree with him or not, he raises some very pertinent questions that need to be addressed.

It's not a question of right or wrong, it's a question of how we want to structure our British Isles for the future.

After all, in the past the separations were largely determined by our differing historical political and religious backgrounds, but provided we can all achieve comparable freedoms, does it really matter whether we end up as a "united kingdom" or as separate independent nations united in brotherhood?

Given the modern trend toward ever greater levels of communications of all types, I'm not sure that I would lose too much sleep over the distinction, although unpicking the current entanglement of deliberately obfuscated constitutions in the most beneficial way will be a relevant factor.

Not to mention the historical entanglement of Church and State. Martin Geddes has highlighted aspects of the spiritual vacuity of the Justice system, but are our traditional religious hierarchies up to plugging that gap for the future?

As it appears impossible to know who is on whose side these days, Ben in his analysis may be as close to the truth as anybody.

There's a lot of information in his full report this week, including about the situation in the UK. As always, we may expect the secret services to tell him what they want us to believe, so is the info kosher? (define kosher ... )

It's a mixed bag that doesn't divide neatly along recognised lines.

The World Has No Shortage of "Enemies"

To listen to the News we would have Iran as primary enemy nbr 1, for reasons unclear. Did Iran ever threaten to invade us?

Maybe our primary enemy is Hamas. Did they ever threaten to invade us?

Or communist China, who make so many of the appliances that enable our modern standard of living. Did China ever threaten to invade anybody (for the moment leaving aside old history such as the Korean and Vietnam wars, at least the latter of which was started deliberately by LBJ).

Russia of course is routinely presented as an enemy, but despite constant provocation by our government sending ever more advanced munitions and support (not to mention Boris Johnson to wreck peace talks) to Kiev, they haven't shown any noticeable desire to attack the UK. I think we should be grateful for such restraint - it should not go unnoticed.

To put it another way, if Russia were supplying France with missiles to attack the UK and blockading our ports to make sure we don't get any more oil, in furtherance of another 100 years war, we would probably have a great deal to say about it. But they are not - in fact, the boot is squarely on the other foot.

Also as Tony Benn used to say: to learn who rules over you, simply find out whom you are not allowed to criticise.

So who is the enemy?
