The Bell Hotel - what hotel name could be more quintessentially English?

It should serenely survey a scene of bucolic peace and tranquillity.

The Donald now has the EU / NATO exactly where he wants them -  in chaos.

If he wanted to end the Ukraine war ASAP whilst "keeping NATO on-side" he couldn't have played a better hand.

Russia has no fear that any American weapons will arrive in Ukraine any time soon, since EU countries aren't exactly queuing up to send over their alleged 17 Patriot batteries. Nor do they want to pay the American Military-Industrial Complex for replacements. And if the odd battery does somehow arrive in Ukraine, it likely won't last five minutes before it's reduced to scrap by the Russians.

Heigh ho. Expect the Russians in Kiev any time they decide to end it.

It is perhaps not a question that we ask every day, or at all, since government has been for ever ingrained in our lives that we take its impertinence for granted.

But what is it good for, really?

Well, here's a list...

• Wasting vast amounts of money on lost causes, such as the NHS, HS2, nuclear power stations, and government-mandated mega-projects in general
• Spending huge amounts of money on global hoaxes such as the Ukraine war ("Mad Bad Vlad must be stopped!") and (hopefully foreign but in extremis domestic) wars in general
• the Climate Catastrophe (made up to scare us into abandoning our standard of comfortable living)
• the Pandemic (that helped them (and helps them still) to reduce the population thus saving £squillions on old age pensions and the like, not to mention awarding their mates contracts for

I've been banging on about Glyphosate since before this site was born, but despite well-publicised court verdicts of past years, the local stores are still flogging it and councils around the country are still spraying it.

You may know it as a constituent of "Round Up", alongside other active ingredients.

Because of its ubiquitous use in farming (especially on grains such as wheat), it is almost impossible to avoid, even by buying organic (although that should hopefully reduce our exposure).

Whether or not he is on the right track may as yet be unclear, but his work does command attention.

For my part I can't say that I have a clear view, other than that major elements of his presentation, whilst plausible, are as yet not substantiated and the jury still awaits the necessary evidence. More water needs to flow under the bridge.
