My own viewpoint is that nobody below retirement age should be permitted to raise children, but that's currently an obvious impossibility. It does give grandparents a big role, but when did adult offspring pay attention to the views of their parents?
And many offspring now live on the other side of the world ... mostly beyond effective reach for many reasons of distance other than the simply geographic.
Especially if we are thinking about how to restructure our civilisation after the coming collapse ...
