  • Scott Ritter Reviews the Geopolitics of the Middle East

    2024-08-27

One of the things I like about Scott is that he is generous with his time and gives it to minor interviewers as well as to the more high profile.

Here he gives a slightly stilted interview which doesn't quite feature his usual easy-flowing rapport with the interviewer, but he does present a very wide-ranging view of the state of play in the area, of western geopolitics, and indeed of internal national politics within the group of nations neighbouring Israel, and of Israel itself.

He is my go-to source for a reason.

  • Kursk - The Aftermath

    2024-08-23

Danny Haiphong interviews Andrei Martyanov to review the results of the incursion by Ukraine into Kursk.

Obviously, this is from a pro-Russian perspective, but it makes a change from Scott Ritter, even if the general thrust of the argument is not too different.

  • Russia Summons US Envoy over Kursk Incursion by US Personnel

    2024-08-22

"Moscow views this as unauthorized American journalists illegally entering Russia's sovereign territory without permission, ultimately to assist with Ukrainian propaganda under Kiev's military protection"

CNN blatantly reporting from the Kursk region?

Are CNN at war with Russia? Or is the US at war with Russia? Or is all of NATO at war with Russia?

If Russians had been discovered on the Isle of Wight, would Sir Keir be complaining?

    Maybe we should be told?

Somebody would seem to have some explaining to do.

  • Fulford Report MPOX Edition - 19 Aug 2024

    2024-08-19

The war of attrition continues in the Ukraine with threats against the regional nuclear power installations, whilst the DNC (Democratic National Convention) kicks off in the US. Still no overt action by Iran against Israel...   after all, with Israel desperate for more war, why play their game?

So this week it's more of the same.  (Modest subscription required for full access)

  • Germany Cuts Funding to Ukraine

    2024-08-18

    A straw in the wind?

I suppose the only surprise here is that it took them so long. But since when were deluded politicians quick to respond to reality?

For some time now it has been clear as day that Germany's interests are to cut its ties to the West and join the BRICS, where it can have access to the relatively inexpensive gas oil and markets that its industries need to survive, recover, and ultimately thrive once more.

Of course it would take most of Eastern (and quite possibly Western!) Europe with it, so it's not a trivial exercise, but given that Russia has shown itself to be by far the most effective military power in its confrontation with NATO, and geopolitical power in its pivotal contribution to building the BRICS, what conceivable advantage does EU/NATO membership confer on Germany that BRICS would not?

I guess that like many things, empires collapse "slowly, and then

  • Whither Ukraine Now?

    2024-08-16

Scott Ritter reviews (a) his brush with the FBI (30 minutes) and (b) the state of Russia's "special military operation", which NATO-Ukraine seem to be desperate to turn into a full-blown war by their invasion of Kursk.

  • Whither Israel Now?

    2024-08-16

Scott Ritter reviews the state of Israel's war with Hamas.

Wider war seems elusive (nobody wants it?) - and "peace" is becoming more expensive every day...

  • "NATO Invaded Russia"!

    2024-08-14

These are not the words of just any over-dramatic journalist but of Scott Ritter, possibly the most experienced and level-headed military and geopolitical analyst of our times.

A Russia-NATO war would become WW3 in short order. Mr Putin doesn't have much wriggle-room if he wishes to avoid that outcome.

Ukraine may be NATO's fig-leaf of plausible deniability but Russia knows what's going on.

"Ukraine is dead. Now the question is 'does the West want to die alongside it?' "

  • Far Right on the Rampage?

    2024-08-08

This guy does seem to be in the right ball-park, although I'm not sure that I would agree with everything he says.

A bit of a rant, but he covers a lot of ground. Complex problems are not going to go away just because the government has decided to "get tough", and if we are looking for the government (of whatever stripe) to solve the problems that were created by the government (of whatever stripe) we will wait a long time.

It will be up to us.

  • Global Military Operation #STORM 2024/25

    2024-08-06

Some believe that this film (previously released 2023 as the "Greatest Show on Earth") presents a reasonably accurate depiction of events that are currently coming to some kind of a head in the Middle East...  but which have their genesis in earlier times and which will change our world for ever.

There is a fair amount of supporting evidence for this view both on this site and elsewhere on the net (Rattletrap1776 on Telegram).

    Is it true? That

  • WW3 About to Become Very Hot?

    2024-08-05

The situation in the Middle East is poised for war.

Israel has defied everyone by attacking Hamas within Iran, thereby publicly sending an unmistakeable signal that they intend to go to full war. Iran cannot fail to respond.

Israel is at odds with the ICC / ICJ over its war with the people of Gaza and continues to forfeit international support. Even the UK has shown signs of getting tired of supporting the unsupportable.

Anybody who believes that they know how events will unfold is almost certainly overly confident - no plan survives contact with the enemy, as Ukraine can testify.

  • EU-Zelensky "Cut Oil Flow" to Hungary & Slovakia

    2024-08-04

I haven't seen this reported very widely, but it appears that Victor Orban may have displeased his would-be Masters of the EU in Brussels.

In consequence it seems that they are determined to push him into the arms of alternative suppliers, no matter the cost to the Ukraine in lost transit revenues.

So why does the EU evidently not want Mr Orban's efforts for a negotiated peace in the Ukraine?

  • Dr Strangelove in the White House?

    2024-08-02

The Peter Sellers film Dr Strangelove may be before many of our readers' time, but maybe we should dust it off and review its relevance to the current obsession of NATO in poking the Russia bear.

The only thing preventing the escalation of the existing proxy war in the Ukraine may be Russia's forethought in making sure that Russia at least has the men materiel and know-how to defend itself from a great number of provocations - but why does "the West" continue, slowly but relentlessly, to provoke?

Redacted discusses the latest development with Col Macgregor.
