Make England Great Again

2025-04-08

OK, this site does not do party politics ...   but maybe this once I might almost make an exception!

I'm not making any kind of recommendation here, but perhaps we might be cognisant of what is going on at the Runcorn and Helsby Constituency By-Election, where candidate Graham Moore is standing on behalf of the English Constitution Party.

Our current ruling elite has done a thorough job of pushing our ancient Constitution into the background (and under the bus) over past decades, and even Brexit hasn't resulted in its restoration to legal effect and national prominence, so perhaps we should be asking: "Why not?".

Now I'm sure that a perfectly respectable case could be made for a new constitutional settlement based upon Great Britain (England Wales and Scotland) or indeed on the United Kingdom as is (perhaps with minor tweaks for non-mainland areas), but the case for England Scotland and Wales to all become self-governing (but friendly and cooperative) independent nations doesn't get much air-time.

Perhaps it should, and perhaps a return to our ancient national settlements might restore national pride, whilst providing a firm foundation for a future based on our constitutional law, whilst consigning the current multiplicity of competing parliaments to the bin.

Note also the work of the English Counties Assembly, which might form a structural framework based on the past for the England of the future, to elect county representatives to national bodies, and which could also return our legal systems to respect the laws of the land, rather than the laws of the sea with their legal fictions assumptions corporations and confusions, that nobody properly understands without an extensive course of in-depth training.

"WE are the ones who run this Country. WE are the ones who make it great. WE are the ones who must step up and put our public servants back in their place – for there is nobody else who can"

There's a lot to unpack here, but if we don't make a start, then we won't make a finish.
