If the War of 1812 is of interest, then so perhaps is this discussion of an historical artefact made in the preceding century for Empress Elizabeth I of Russia. After all, if the French and Russians were not fighting amongst themselves in 1812, then whom were they fighting?
Beyond that question however, there does seem to be more than meets the eye to this seemingly slightly unwanted artefact that graces a corner of the Kremlin, showing as it may Russia's eastern neighbour of a century earlier ...
