Cause and effect. One follows the other, by definition. The effect cannot precede the cause, because at that point the cause did not exist.
Likewise a cause without an effect cannot be said to have caused anything. If the cause doesn't cause the effect then the link between cause and effect is ... broken. So the cause doesn't cause the effect and it cannot be the cause.
Perhaps this simple logic should be more widely applied ... in multiple areas of life.
