Is this where the world is headed?
In past centuries the world was divided up by the competing colonial powers. America was a series of colonies of the British, the French, the Spanish, the Portuguese. Oh, and the Danes in Greenland.
By various means the British won out, still retaining Canada under the British Crown, which also facilitated the State of Israel. The Middle East has been a hotbed of violence ever since, much of it under overt American and Israeli oversight. But the British and Americans always had that carefully ill-defined "special relationship", and Israel always exerted a heavy but thinly disguised influence on American politics, so who was really pulling influence behind the scenes?
But the Donald (together with Russia and China) is reshaping the world away from the old imperialism.
Although her claim that Trump is managing to avoid conflict in the process must be taken with a large helping of salt in the case of Iran, there is little doubt that the process of global realignment is well under way - we just can't yet see the full end-game.
