We have noted before how our government prefers to ship more armaments and weapons of destruction into this imbroglio, rather than encourage the protagonists to negotiate a lasting peace in good faith.

The Minsk agreement of 2015 should have provided the basis for that negotiation, and still could.

It seems that good faith is lacking in many quarters, and not just in the Ukraine.

As this conflict drags on, should we in the UK still be stoking an impossible situation?

Do we really suppose that Vladimir Putin is going to give up and go home any time soon?

That simply isn't going to happen.

He will either push on until his objectives are realised or he will make peace - the prospect of his defeat is vanishingly small.

In this situation do we really want to escalate deliveries of ever more powerful weapons, and maybe more, into this lost cause? I wouldn't expect Russia to stand for much more of that without taking more direct action against us.

How far do we the people want this to go?

The sensible move would be to pressure Zelenskyy to make peace - both his and Putin's public statements have indicated that there is scope for negotiation. All parties including the UK should press for a negotiated peace before any loss of face becomes impossible to sustain.

The suspicion that our leadership wants to distract from other problems domestic and foreign, and probably global, has to be entertained. Do they actually want more war? Do their actions betray their preference?

" ... every effort must be made to establish the peace—every effort now, and urgently"

" ... ensuring the security of the Russian speaking citizens of the Donbass and establishing a land bridge to Crimea, while de-Nazifying Ukraine’s National Guard militias have been Russia’s military objectives throughout the war"

Why should these objectives be unacceptable to the UK, given that there is no feasible alternative short of open war?

LaRouchePAC provides their update on the situation. Whatever your opinion of President Trump, the logic of this situation is incontrovertible.
