** BAD TASTE WARNING

The Epstein files have brought us into the era of epic bad taste. It's upon us. Get used to it.
My attitude is that I will avoid bad taste except where it seems particularly appropriate. You don't have to agree, but be assured that I will minimise it overall whilst not always shying away from it.

As is as about as predictable as tomorrow morning, the powers that shouldn't be are working on the next BIG THING that they hope will scare the Bejasus out of us and have us begging for something - anything - even a lockdown - complete with panoply of confusing contradictory bureaucratic rules and meaningless moronic restrictions - to delight the compliant-to-a fault and the tell-me-what-to-dos who will in turn delight in shaming the rest of us into all-numbing limbo because otherwise "WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!" because either there's another DEADLY but totally novel virus that nobody knows anything about (except that it's DEADLY and we should ALL be terrified of its novel unknown but definitely DEADLY menace) ...

... or there's a shortage of fuel and it must all be saved for "our" wonderful NHS and the wonderful Dancing Angels of Death (by Midazolam and Morphine) (previously known as nurses), so we will have to walk everywhere whilst still clapping for the NHS on a Thursday until we fall ill from exposure and have to be saved by a wonderful Ambulance that if we had driven anywhere in the warm wouldn't have had any fuel to come and get us.

Or something not entirely dissimilar.

Now it is true that I did embellish some of the above for the sake of literary emphasis, and I left out the bit about not motoring to the supermarket for any food because that will be pointless as there won't be any food in the supermarket any more because there's no fertiliser to grow it and no diesel to distribute it, but you get the drift. We should just die quietly at home and shut up about it.

But there will of course be fake food made from insect larvae or recycled cadavers and other more artificial food substitutes that the boffins are tirelessly working day and night to bring to our rescue once again at Warp Speed by cutting out those long and superfluous safety trials that the pedantic box-checkers always insist on - don't they know there's a war on?

Or perhaps they will distribute what food is available through "our" NHS and we will be able to get it on a prescription from a doctor when we are sufficiently done for and the queues are sufficiently short.

But don't listen to me, because what do I know?

Readers wanting to know about real climate science should understand one thing - it is so preposterously complex and open to the influence of so many variables, not all of which are probably yet identified let alone confirmed or actually measurable, that it is completely unrealistic to assert that human beings have mastered it, given the extreme paucity of actual hard information available. It is not and cannot be "settled" since "the science" is by its very nature never "settled" but always open to correction and reinterpretation in the light of new information. Those who maintain otherwise are either ignorant or mendacious or possibly both. 

NB: "models" may well be complicated, difficult to construct, and to understand, but these traits of themselves do not make them any part of "science" - they are simply logical tools invented for automatically generating results based upon the modeller's fancy and whatever "data" he (or anyone else) chooses to put in.

Now add 'lies, damned lies, and statistics' into this devil's brew ...
