In the recent past there have been reports that Covid vaccine effectiveness has become negative in certain situations. 

Indeed the official insistence that people should line up for jab nbr 3 "booster" would rather seem to be consistent with the notion that two jabs don't cut it.

Of course, "effective" may mean "protects against catching it / spreading it" and/or "protects against severe disease". That distinction is not trivial, since if the vaccinated can still catch and spread it then the much-mooted vaccine passports would become ineffective but by no means inconsequential.

As with all things Covid, authoritative impartial information is a bit thin on the ground, but today's Daily Sceptic helps us out by highlighting a couple of sources, one from each side of the divide.

It's still not exactly clear-cut, but if "the vaccines work" then why do we need a third dose, and if they don't, then why do we need a third dose?
