This long-running (since 1st June 2020) saga has been kicked out by the Court of Appeal. To my understanding it has never had a formal oral hearing.

"thanks to the government keeping us out of the courts, it is the end of the road for this particular action but the good news is that we are not giving up and we are already working on our next legal action against this corrupt tyrannical government"

and from their (rather long) email:

"the government is able to get away with this regarding the Judicial Review process as the absurdity is you need the permission of the government to take the government to court! They refused this of course"

"the government was forced to stop continually issuing Statutory Instruments under the Public Heath (Control of Disease) Act 1984"

"it was obvious we were definitely a thorn in their side over the 16 months we were able to push it for and we believe this paid off! For this winter it could well have been that we would have had far more and worse 'restrictions' including lockdowns if it was not for your support of our legal challenge and we are very grateful to you"

In the end, there are a number of Acts of Parliament that urgently need wholesale repeal, and this is one of them. Striking it down would be a major victory, but it's not clear whether this particular route still offers any realistic possibility of success.

It's up to everyone to decide who can be trusted to be competent honest and well-motivated these days - legal action is an extremely expensive and extremely slow way of doing things, and it's perfectly possible that wittingly or unwittingly these cases are simply being used to grind down those who would seek justice.

These actions do seem to have been useful, but other initiatives are progressing and there is plenty going on elsewhere, so it really is a question of priorities - which avenues are still worth supporting?

As always, it's your judgement.
